Project Overview

Structural and Thermal Assessment – Winston-Salem, NC

Dronegenuity conducted a drone inspection of the UNC School of the Arts (UNCSA) building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The images focus on the roof, HVAC systems, and exterior, helping to identify maintenance needs and energy inefficiencies.

The aerial photographs show the building’s brickwork, decorative details, and windows. Protective netting around the upper structure suggests ongoing repairs. Rooftop images capture air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and areas showing wear.

Thermal images highlight heat distribution, helping to detect insulation gaps, water intrusion, and HVAC inefficiencies. Warmer areas may indicate energy loss, while cooler sections suggest heat retention. Variations around rooftop units may need further inspection.

Founded in 1963, UNCSA is a public arts conservatory in Winston-Salem, a city known for its transition from an industrial hub to a center for arts and innovation. Maintaining its historic and modern buildings is essential for student and faculty safety.

Drone imaging helps assess structural conditions, plan maintenance, and improve sustainability, supporting Winston-Salem’s efforts to preserve its historic architecture.
