Holyoke, MA
Project Overview
An Industrial Landmark – Holyoke, MA
These drone images, captured by Dronegenuity, show the large historic mill complex in Holyoke, Massachusetts, from several high angles. The photos clearly outline the size and structure of the site, including the long red-brick buildings, tall smokestacks, and central courtyards. The complex sits between canals, with nearby parking lots, roadways, and rail lines. The overhead views help show how the buildings are laid out and how the area is still connected to the city’s infrastructure.
The canals visible in the photos were a key part of Holyoke’s early growth. In the mid-1800s, the city was planned specifically to use water power from the Connecticut River. This system of canals powered paper and textile mills and helped turn Holyoke into a major industrial center. The drone images show how those canals still run alongside many of the mill buildings today.
Together, the images show both the scale of the mill and the city’s industrial history. The buildings, bridges, and waterways all reflect Holyoke’s past as a manufacturing hub. Even now, the layout and structures remain a clear link to how the city was designed to support industry and growth.
